The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is hitting theaters in just a few days, and its soundtrack will be just as epic as the film itself. Olivia Rodrigo recorded its second single “Can’t Catch Me Now” and the music video for this powerful song is finally here.
The music video for “Can’t Catch Me Now” opens with Rodrigo playing a guitar inside an isolated cabin in the woods before she steps outside and runs for her life. The video is interspersed with scenes from the film, which centers on the young Coriolanus Snow mentoring the young tribute Lucy Gray Baird for the 10th annual Hunger Games.
Rodrigo recently attended the film’s premiere in Los Angeles and said it was an honor to write this song, especially since it allowed her to flex her songwriting abilities.
“It was a really fun challenge for me as a songwriter because lots of my songs are kind of about my personal life… It was a wonderful experience to try to write something from the character of Lucy Gray. [She’s] a character that I feel very connected to,” said Rodrigo.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will officially hit the theaters on November 17, and it stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis.
