“Pacific Rim Uprising” to Top “Black Panther” in Box Office

After topping the box office for the past five back-to-back weekends, Universal-Legendary’s Pacific Rim Uprising is set to knock Disney-Marvel’s Black Panther from the number one spot.

While earning mixed reviews from critics and a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Uprising is set to take in $25 million from 3,708 locations in North American. The film also made its global debut this weekend and is set to reel in $120.5 million, including $65 million from China.

Black Panther will only take $16 million this weekend from 3,370 sites, considerably less from last weekend. No doubt the film did beautifully in the box office, earning the fifth place spot on the all-time domestic gross list.

Pacific Rim Uprising is directed by Steven S. DeKnight and stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny; Jing Tian, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Burn Gorman are return casting from the original 2013 film directed by Guillermo del Toro.
