Paramount Developing Third “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Movie

A third installment in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is in development.

Variety reports that Paramount is developing a new TMNT film, tapping Andrew Dodge, the writer behind the comedy Bad Words, to pen the script.

Producing the feature are Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller via their Platinum Dunes production company.

Ever since the 1980s comic by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the pizza-loving turtle superheroes became a pop culture phenomenon, spawning two feature films made by Paramount. The first installment simply titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released in 2014 and grossed $493 million worldwide. However, the second installment, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows did not repeat the success of the first installment brining in $245 million.

With fans responding well to the franchise, but with critics not impressed, it looks like its time to get back to the drawing board.
