Peter Jackson’s “They Shall Not Grow Old” Sets Record

Peter Jackson’s WWI documentary has set a brand new record.

Deadline reports that They Shall Not Grow Old from Warner Bros. has set a new record for Fathom Events grossing an estimated $3.1 million on Thursday at 1,122 theaters in North America, which means that the film has now taken in $5.4 million in two days of showings.

Jackson teamed with the Imperial War Museums back in 2014. Jackson’s used the voices of 120 actual British soldiers who were recorded in the 1960s and colorize actual footage from World War I. The film includes previously unseen footage — Jackson went through 100 hours of footage and 600 hours of BBC archives.

The film premiered in the UK on the Armistice Day centennial.
