Police Responded to Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd’s Home for Attempted Break-In, Says Heather Morris

Heather Morris explained why her Dancing With the Stars partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, will not be joining their scheduled TV appearance on Good Morning America.

The Glee alum told GMA‘s Lara Spencer that after their shocking elimination on Monday’s episode of DWTS, Chmerkovskiy and his fiancee, Peta Murgatroyd, had “some sort of run-in with a man near their house” that was “trying to break into” their home.

“The police were there and they took care of it,” Morris said. “They are safe and Peta is okay and that’s the most important thing — that we are making sure she is calm.”

Spencer added that it was a scary incident, given that Murgatroyd, who is also a DWTS pro, and Chmerkovskiy just welcomed their first child, Shai, in January.

“Early this morning, there was a trespasser who attempted to break into our home,” Chmerkovskiy told ET in a statement. “The LAPD responded and my family and I are all OK.”

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to ET that they received a call regarding a civil dispute between 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. However, no crime report was taken, as it was considered just a civil matter.

Murgatroyd spoke to ET on Monday about her sentiments on Chmerkovskiy and Morris’ elimination from the show. “I’m so upset for him. He was so excited,” she said. “He was just getting over his calf injury, and I mean, I swear they were gonna be in the finals. I mean, they’re incredible together. I just don’t understand it. But you know the show is based so heavily on fan votes, so I think that’s just it. They just lacked that I guess.”

Murgatroyd is still competing on DWTS with former Bachelor star Nick Viall.
