Possible disappointment for “Broadchurch” fans as 4th season seems unlikely

The BBC America police drama show’s creator and writer Chris Chibnall said that it is probably the end of the show, so season 3 finale that aired on Wednesday might have been the last fans got to see their loved and sometimes hated characters.

Chibnall told EW: “[t]here were these three stories. I wouldn’t want to do repeated versions of these crimes. I don’t think that would ring true to me. So, at the moment, I don’t think I have another story for this world and I’m not sure that will change, really. So, I think it’s probably goodbye for good.”

While it looks like the end for Broadchurch, Chibnall will be keeping busy as he is replacing Steve Moffat on Doctor Who as showrunner. Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker will be joining him as a new character on Doctor Who.

When asked why he won’t take Broadchurch abroad, he said that many have suggested that in the past. “I think wherever David Tennant and Olivia Colman might wish to spend a few months of their year… Yeah, Hawaii could be good. France. New Zealand. I’m sure you’d have eager ears from some of the cast!”
