“Pretty Woman: The Musical” Sets Closing Date on Broadway

After having played a total of 27 previews and 421 regular performances, Pretty Woman: The Musical will close on August 18. 

The musical based on the 1990 Garry Marshall film of the same name debuted at the Nederlander Theatre since its debut last August. News of the musical’s final performance was announced by the producers on Wednesday. 

The musical follows Vivian Ward, a prostitute who finds her life changed when she embarks on a special contract with a millionaire playboy. 

Two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell directed from a book by Garry Marshall and original Pretty Woman screenwriter J.F. Lawton. It also featured original music and lyrics from Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

Pretty Woman: The Musical was a box office success with its earnings (to date) stands at a $46.7 million.
