“Queer as Folk” Reboot in Works at Bravo

According to Variety, Bravo is developing a new series of Queer as Folk.

The original series ran for ten episodes between 1999 and 2000 in the UK and starred Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam, and Craig Kelly. A North American remake was launched in 2000 on Showtime. It ran for five seasons and starred Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, and Scott Lowell.

The reboot has tapped original series creator Russell T. Davies, as well as writer-director Stephen Dunn. The new series will feature new characters in a new setting. It is described as a modern take on the British original that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy.

Dunn and Davies are set to produce with Nicola Shindler who exec produced the original. Emily Brecht of Quantity is co-executive producing.
