Raye has given us one of the defining songs of 2023 with “Escapism.”, and she’s finally getting credit where credit is due! The nominations for the upcoming Brit Awards are finally in, and she’s topped the list of nominees with seven nods, making history along the way.
Raye emerged as one of the front-runners in three main categories – album, song, and artist of the year. She’s also been nominated for best pop act, best R&B act, and best new artist, bringing her total to seven nominations, which marks a new record for most nominations received by a single artist in a year.
Raye’s debut LP My 21st Century Blues is in the running for album of the year, alongside Blur’s The Ballad of Darren, J Hus’ Beautiful and Brutal Yard, Little Simz’s No Thank You, and Young Fathers’ Heavy Heavy.
She’s also been nominated for song of the year with two tracks, “Escapism.” ft. 070 Shake and “Prada” ft. Cassö and D-Block Europe. Raye also emerged as the main contender for the artist of the year award, where she’s competing against Dua Lipa, Dave, Arlo Parks, and Jessie Ware.
The 2024 Brit Awards will return to The O2 Arena in London on March 2, with the host yet to be announced.
