Record Sales in Broadway Box Office for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has just made Broadway box office history.

In its third week of previews, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has set a record for the highest single-week gross reported by a nonmusical.

The play shot past the $2 million mark breaking the previous record held by All the Way that grossed $1.6 million in its final week in 2014. This is especially impressive as circa 200 tickets per performance are priced at $40 or less.

The strong sales for the two-part play definitely have to do with the Harry Potter brand driving hordes of fans domestically and internationally to watch the play.

Overall sales on Broadway this week were high as many were on vacation. Total cumulative sales rang in at $42.6 million for 36 shows running with an outstanding 18 productions reported grosses of $1 million or more each last week.
