Rihanna’s fans spent almost three years wondering if her next album is going to drop any time soon and they’ve finally got an update. The Barbados native recently confirmed her next studio record will be hitting the shelves in 2019.
Her ninth studio album will serve as a follow-up to Anti, which came out in 2016. Rihanna didn’t drop any new solo songs in the meantime, but that didn’t stop her from being featured on several hit singles by other artists, including Future, DJ Khaled and Kendrick Lamar.
Despite the fact we can’t wait to hear her new songs, we can’t blame Rihanna for taking a little break from music. She’s been focusing on other passions and thriving in so many walks of life in the past three years.
In addition to starring in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Ocean’s 8, the nine-time Grammy winner invested a lot of time and energy into launching her own cosmetics company Fenty Beauty. She’s also been appointed as ambassador by the government of her native country Barbados.
