Ringo Starr to Receive Knighthoods in Queen’s New Year’s Honors

Congratulations to music legend Ringo Starr who was chosen to be knighted!

According to CNN, this year more than 1,100 people will be honored by the Queen including 551 women. The list of “extraordinary” politicians, academics, journalists, athletes and artists is compiled by the government and approved by the monarch

E! news confirmed that the former Beatles member is being recognized for his contribution to charity and service to music.

In a statement released by Starr after learning about his award he said, “It’s great! “It’s an honor and a pleasure to be considered and acknowledged for my music and my charity work, both of which I love. Peace and love. Ringo.”

Starr is the second Beatle to be chosen for the honor with Paul McCartney receiving the honor nearly 20 years ago.

Recipients will be celebrated at a ceremony headed by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
