“Riverdale” Actor Luke Perry Passed Away At 52

Fans, co-stars and friends of actor Luke Perry sent thoughts and prayers to his family after he passed away at the age 52. The star of beloved TV shows Riverdale and Beverly Hills, 90210 died after suffering a stroke at his home.

Perry started acting in the early ‘80s, but got his big break almost a decade later when he was cast as brooding loner Dylan McKay in popular teen series Beverly Hills, 90210. Younger audience knows him as Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews, on CW’s hit show Riverdale.

This show shut down production after the news of Perry’s sudden passing broke everyone’s heart. Executives producers of Riverdale announced they would temporarily stop working on the upcoming season in tribute to Perry.

“Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness,” read their joint statement.

Many of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Molly Ringwald and Joss Whedon, tweeted their condolences to actor’s family. Perry’s rep said they appreciate the outpouring of support and prayers they received from every corner of the world, but respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning.
