Deadline reports that HBO Max has ordered a pilot and an additional script for The Shelley Society, a new series created by the man behind the Archie comics-based TV universe.

The new drama pilot for HBO’s forthcoming streaming service was co-created by Riverdale scribes Tessa Leigh Williams and James DeWille. The three will also serve as executive producers. Aguirre-Sacasa will serve as showrunner.

The new show titled The Shelley Society is described as a gothic horror and teen romance hybrid that follows a young Mary Shelley and a band of her fellow Romantics as they battle supernatural threats.

The show is Aguirre-Sacasa’s first project under his overall deal with WBTV.

HBO Max is expected to launch in the spring of 2020, however, there’s no official launch date yet.
