Robert De Niro in Talks to Join Joker Stand-Alone Movie

Ever since DC announced Joker stand-alone movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, fans couldn’t wait to learn more about it. Casting news are finally in, and it seems like Robert De Niro will be joining DC Cinematic Universe.

Two-time Oscar winner is in talks to join Phoenix, but there’s a lot of mystery surrounding his role. At this point, we only know he’d be playing a talk show host who is instrumental in the Joker’s origin.

Joker movie is only one of promising new projects on his resume. De Niro will go back to his roots in The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese – the same man who helped him rise to prominence. His classics Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy reportedly served as “tonal watchword” for the upcoming DC film. Long story short – De Niro’s involvement would be an amazing meta-reference if he eventually says “Yes.”

Goodfellas star isn’t the only one who might be joining the cast of Joker stand-alone movie. Deadpool 2 breakout Zazie Beetz and American Horror Story actress Frances Conroy may also become part of the cast. Beetz would play a single mother who catches the Joker’s interest, while Conroy would star in as his actual mother.
