Dune 3 is expected to kick off production later this year, and its cast will be one star-studded affair. Robert Pattinson is circling a major villain role in this long-awaited sequel, joining the A-list ensemble that includes Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and Zendaya.
No formal offer has been made to Pattinson, but there is strong interest in him joining the cast. It remains unknown who he would play, but sources are saying he’s been circling the role of the film’s main villain, possibly Scytale from Frank Herbert’s books.
The third film in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise will be based on Dune Messiah, and the director said it would mark the conclusion of his trilogy. The cast is yet to be announced, but Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and Jason Mamoa will most likely make their return.
Pattinson is fresh off starring in Bong Joon Ho’s acclaimed sci-fi black comedy Mickey 17, and he has several highly-anticipated projects in the works. He’s set to appear in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey, Lynne Ramsay’s dark comedy Die, My Love, rom-com The Drama opposite Zendaya, and the sequel of The Batman, set to premiere in 2027.
