The Rookie is here for at least a full season.
ABC has ordered seven additional episode of the cop drama. The additional brings The Rookie’s freshman episode count to a total of 20, which means a full season order. It is the latest series to be g picked up for a full season that will not consist of the traditional 22 episodes’ count.
The series follows John Nolan (Fillion) a middle-aged man who fulfills his dream of becoming an LAPD officer. But few on the force are impressed with the oldest LAPD rookie to ever join the department. Also starring are Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey, Titus Makin as Jackson West, Mercedes Mason as Captain Zoe Andersen, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Afton Williamson as Talia Bishop, and Eric Winter as Tim Bradford.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Rookie has improved ABC’s troubled 10 p.m. slot by 84 percent in total and 36 percent in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic. The Rookie is co-produced by Entertainment One and ABC Studios.
