The hit ABC comedy series from the 90’s is making a comeback!
A revival of Roseanne is in the works, and fans will get to see America’s favorite blue-collar family return to their screens.
16 million viewers watched the series finale 20 years ago. In that same episode John Goodman’s character suffered a fatal heart attack. However, ABC entertainment President Channing Dungey told reporters that while they won’t ignore “the events of the finale… Dan is definitely still alive.”
It is not unprecedented that writers ignore how one network chose to wrap up a series. In the example of the Will & Grace revival, writers told EW that they will ignore how the original NBC series ended by giving the lead characters spouses and kids.
Audiences will be happy to hear that Dungey promised that Roseanne will still be a sharp and touching comedy telling reporters that it will “similar to the original… unflinching, honest and irreverent at times.”
Production is expected to begin in October.
