The 57-year-old host of RuPaul’s Drag Race had his career and cultural impact recognized at an unveiling presented by Jane Fonda. He is the first drag queen to receive that honor.
In the ceremony, RuPaul Charles said he was “overcome with so much emotion” to get the honor he’d dreamed of since he was a child. adding, “This is absolutely the most important moment in my professional career.”
“As a kid we’d come up here to Hollywood Boulevard,” RuPaul continued. “I’d look at all the stars and dream that one day, I could be one of the stars on Hollywood Boulevard.”
Season 10 of RuPaul’s drag race begins Thursday, March 22 on VH1.
