Spider-Man director, Sam Ramini, is in final negotiations to helm the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Should the deal go through, Ramini will take over the helm following Scott Derrickson’s departure from the project. According to Variety, which was first to report the news, Derrickson exited the project due to creative differences. He will remain as an executive producer.

The sequel, which was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last summer, was described by the then director as “the first scary MCU film.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled for release on May 7, 2021.
