Sandra Bullock Developing Amazon Series Based on Her College Years

We’ve watched Sandra Bullock produce pretty amazing projects over the course of the last two decades, but her next one is the most personal yet. The Oscar-winning actress is currently developing an Amazon series inspired by her own life.

This promising show still doesn’t have a title, but it will be loosely based on Bullock’s college years in North Carolina. K.C. Perry will be in charge of creating and writing the project, and Bullock will executive produce it alongside Akiva Goldsman and John Legend.

The official logline describes this show as “hilarious, boundary-crossing, and often soul-wrenching trek through the oppressive cultural norms of the deep south in the 1980s, where one darkly off-beat young woman defies expectations and sets out in search of love, community, and most importantly, an identity of her own.”

The studio is also promising a dance-filled journey, which follows a group of young outcasts and tackles several important issues, such as mental health and the AIDS epidemic. The show’s ambitious soundtrack is expected to mix multiple genres from the period, including 80’s pop, Southern gospel, and opera.
