Sarah Chalke Joins “Firefly Lane”

Netflix’s adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s best selling novel has tapped Sarah Chalke to star opposite Katherine Heigl.

The small-screen reimagining of Hannah’s novel, Firefly Lane, is the third in development following The Nightingale and The Great Alone in production at Sony’s TriStar Pictures.

The drama tells the story of a friendship between two women over 30 years.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Chalke will play Kate Mularkey, who has often lived in the shadow of Tully Hart (Heigl), a famous talk-show host and journalist. Awkward and shy, Kate possesses a self-deprecating sense of humor and is often underestimated, but she’s fiercely intelligent and fiercely loyal.”

Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End) is penning the adaptation as well as serving as showrunner and executive producer. Heigl will also executive produce the adaptation.
