Season 2 of “The Umbrella Academy” Gets Green Light

Fans of The Umbrella Academy rejoice! Our favorite group of ragtag superheroes will continue their adventures on Netflix as the streaming giant just renewed the series for Season 2.

The Umbrella Academy follows the lives of seven unlikely heroes who were trained to save the world by an eccentric billionaire who adopted them after birth. They end up parting ways into adulthood, but eventually find their way to each other after their father’s unexpected death.

This critically acclaimed show is based on the comic book series of the same name, created by Gabriel Bá and My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way. He described this adaptation as a fulfillment of his dream, and praised the cast that brought his characters to life.

“It’s a huge honor to see all these wonderfully talented people interpret these characters. They all thought very deeply about these characters and brought their own ideas to it,” said Way.

The Umbrella Academy stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda and Aidan Gallagher. Season 2 should start filming in May, and premiere on Netflix next year.
