Season 6 of “Empire” Will Be Its Last

Fans of Empire were head over heels after Fox announced they’re bringing this show back for Season 6, but their joy quickly turned to sorrow. Only a few weeks after officially renewing this show, network executives announced its upcoming season will also be its last.

Charlie Collier, CEO of Fox Entertainment, shared the news in a press call with reporters but promised an epic conclusion, full of jaw-dropping moments.

“One of the great benefits of announcing a final season is to allow the fans to lean in and to have the ending they deserve, and that’s everything we’re trying to do with this iconic series. Six years is a pretty remarkable run for a drama series and we feel good about it,” said Collier.

Empire follows the trials and tribulations of hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon and his dysfunctional family. It stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, who won a Golden Globe and received a series of other award nominations for her portrayal of fan favorite Cookie Lyon.
