Selena Gomez got her big break on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, so she’s obviously no stranger to using a little bit of magic, but she took things to a whole new level in the twisty music video for her new single “Boyfriend”.

The Matty Peacock-directed video is basically a reverse The Princess and the Frog and we get to watch Gomez going on a series of disastrous dates, and using a mysterious purple potion, which eventually turns all of her suitors into frogs.

The singer described “Boyfriend” as “a lighthearted song about falling down and getting back up time and time again in love, but also knowing that you don’t need anyone other than yourself to be happy” on her Instagram.

Gomez also made it clear that “a boyfriend is nowhere near the top of [her] list of priorities,” and that she wrote it long before the current health crises. She simply used this track to promote the release of the deluxe edition of her chart-topping album Rare, which became available on April 9th.
