“Shallow” Soars to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” nabbed the top spot on the latest edition of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

According to multiple reports, it was the duo’s smoldering performance of the A Star Is Born single at the 91st Academy Awards that catapulted it to the top spot, dethroning Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next.” The single made its way to no. 1 from the no. 21 position. It had first peaked at no. 5 back in October.

“Shallow” won Gaga and Cooper the Oscar for Best Original Song. Per Rolling Stone, following its Oscars spotlight, the soundtrack has sold 128,000 copies, up over 150 percent from the previous week.

This is the first no. 1 hit for Cooper and Gaga’s fourth. The song has won two Grammys, an Oscar, a Golden Globe for best original song, and the BAFTA Award for best original music.
