Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello gave us one of the catchiest songs of the summer with their latest collaboration “Señorita”, and the numbers finally reflect the enormous success of this song. About a month after its release, this steamy track finally made it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
If Mendes and Cabello released “Señorita” at any other time, it probably would’ve immediately soared to no. 1 – but this summer has been one wild ride. “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus has been dominating the charts for 19 consecutive weeks, before finally being stopped in its track.
Billie Eilish celebrated her first no. 1 hit last week with “Bad Guy”, but that honor now belongs to Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, who previously collaborated on 2016 single “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.
Needless to say, the duo was head over heels after learning that “Señorita” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Mendes’ first and Cabello’s second song to do so. Before finally reaching the coveted no. 1 spot in the US, this song already did the same in countless other countries, including Australia, Germany, and the UK.
