“Shrill” Renewed for Season 2

Hulu has put in a second season order of the comedy series.

Shrill stars Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant and is based on Lindy West’s 2016 memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman.

Bryant stars as Annie, an overweight young woman who wants to change her life, but not her body. While trying to start her career as a journalist, Annie juggles bad boyfriends, sick parents, and a perfectionist boss. Despite the world around her deeming her not good enough because of her weight, Annie starts to realize that she’s as good as anyone else, and acts on it.

The series also stars Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens, and John Cameron Mitchell.

Shrill received a straight-to-series order for Season 1 and has been very well received by audiences. Season 2 will span eight episodes, which is up from the Season 1’s six episodes.

Shrill is expected to return in 2020.
