Sophia Bush has been cast in the CBS drama pilot Good Sam.
Multiple outlets confirm that the former One Tree Hill and Chicago PD star will play the title character in the pilot, which marks Bush’s return to the network.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the medical drama centers on Bush’s character — a gifted heart surgeon, and her relationship with her domineering father, who happens to work in the same hospital. Oh yeah — he’s also impossible to please and has never acknowledged Sam’s talents.
Second in command to him and always in his shadow, Sam rises to the occasion when he falls into a coma and she takes charge of the department as chief of surgery. Sam comes into her own professionally and personally, however, her world is upturned again after Griff awakens and wants to practice again, even if it means being supervised by his daughter.
Bush’s other television credits include Love, Victor and This Is Us.
