Sophie Turner Reveals “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Won’t Premiere Until 2019

We’ve all feared it might happen and now it’s confirmed: Game of Thrones Season 8 won’t premiere in 2018. The final season of the show will be postponed for 2019, according to Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the show.

In an interview with Variety, the 21-year-old actress was asked about her busy 2018 – with GoT in progress and the November release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix on the horizon.

“I’m really excited,” she said. “Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. Dark Phoenix is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie (Girl Who Fell From the Sky). So I’m really excited about the future.”

The announcement comes just months after CaseBloysHBO Head of Programming, hinted that final episodes could arrive as late as 2019.

HBO hasn’t officially commented on this yet.
