Netflix has renewed the Spanish drama Elite for a fourth season.

The series, written by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, has been picked up for Season 4 about two months after Season 3 launched on the platform. Elite is one of Netflix’s best performing Spanish originals and the cast including, Miguel Bernardeau and Claudia Salas, made the announcement via a video from their homes.

There’s no release date yet, since the coronavirus has caused production to halt.

“I wanted to tell you that we have got the scripts of season 4 and they look so good,” says Bernardeau in the video.

“You better be prepared, because it’s intense,” adds fellow cast member Arón Piper.

The series is set at Las Encinas, an exclusive high school in the country, whose students are wealthy, except for three working-class kids who have been admitted after their tin pit school collapses. The class and cultural differences between these students cause confrontation one of which ends in murder.

Many of the cast members will be leaving the show including Mina El Hammani, Danna Paola, Ester Expósito, Álvaro Rico, and Jorge López. Itzan Escamilla, Miguel Bernardeau, Arón Piper, Omar Ayuso, Claudia Salas, and Georgina Amorós will returning for the fourth season.
