Standalone “Joker” Movie Gets First Poster and Teaser Trailer

The standalone Joker movie is offering a brand-new take on the beloved comic book villain – and we finally know what it’s going to look like. First poster and teaser trailer for this highly-anticipated movie starring Joaquin Phoenix have been revealed during CinemaCon.

As it usually goes with first teasers, this one doesn’t reveal much, but it was enough to get fans excited. It did, however, give us a general vibe of the movie that, according to the director Todd Phillips, is still taking shape.

This gripping teaser has been described as an homage to Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and King of Comedy, which certainly isn’t a coincidence. After all, the Joker movie just happens to star Robert De Niro, who played the lead roles in both of these classics.

This film will serve as the origin story of Gotham’s clown prince of crime, and it offers a series of snippets into his past before he fully embraces his villainous persona. It’s safe to expect that future trailers will reveal more about actual plot, but we’ll have to wait until October 4 to see this movie in full.
