Lee Daniels took to Instagram Friday to announce the news.
The producer and director of the canceled drama, Star, said that his series will return as a “movie of the week.”
In a video captioned “Get ready for a two-hour GAG,” Daniels told fans — “We’re gonna make something real special for you to scream about, with all of our cast members — even the dead ones.”
The musical drama was given the ax by Fox in May. It followed three talented young singers — played by Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady, and Ryan Destiny, who navigate the music business on their road to success and stardom. It also starred Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Brandy, Stephen Dorff, Keke Palmer, and more.
