Sting Operation Busts Couple Trying to Sell Baby on Craigslist

A Tennessee couple was arrested last week after trying to sell their 5-month-old infant online.

The suspects, 26-year-old John David Cain, and 37-year-old Deanna Lynn Greer were both charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect or endangerment after Greene County Sheriff’s Office investigated a Craigslist ad they posted offering to sell their baby for $3,000, ABC reports confirm.

Both were arrested as the result of a successful sting operation which came to an end Friday, when the couple exchanged the infant for cash, and were immediately taken into custody at the Greene County Jail in Greeneville.

Each is being held on a $150,000 bond, and they are set to appear in court during the first week of April. The baby remains for now in state custody.
