Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard joins “The Goldfinch” adaptation

Finn Wolfhard is moving on from The Upside Down to join The Goldfinch adaptation.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that the Stranger Things star is joining the Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios movie adaptation to the best-selling book by Donna Tartt.

Playing along Ansel Elgort who will portray Theo , a young man who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Wolfhard is set to play Boris, a young Ukrainian boy who bonds with Theo due to their both having lost their mothers and who introduces him to drugs and alcohol.

Directed by John Crowley, the project is set to start shooting next week. Also attached to the film are Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Wilson, and Aneurin Barnard. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force are producing.

This marks another major role for Wolfhard who starred in 2017 in the adaptation of Stephen King’s It.
