Six films earned six nominations which included The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal, and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Promising Young Woman received five nominations.
For the first time ever, two women were nominated for Best Director— Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman). They’re competing against Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round), David Fincher (Mank), and Lee Isaac Chung (Minari).
The ceremony will take place in-person at Los Angeles’ Union Station and the Dolby Theatre on April 25.
