]]>According to Netflix’s official logline, this project centers on Atlas Shepherd, described as “a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, [who] joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past”, only to realize that her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.
Atlas was written for Netflix by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite, while Brad Peyton directed it. In addition to Lopez, it will also star Simu Liu (Barbie), Sterling K. Brown (Americana Fiction), Gregory James Cohan (9-1-1: Lone Star), Abraham Popoola (Extraordinary), Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time), and Mark Strong (Shazam!).
Lopez previously led Netflix’s The Mother, which went on to enter the streamer’s most popular film list. It was watched by 2.8 million households in the U.S. over its debut weekend alone, and outperformed some of the streamer’s biggest hits at the time, including Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Murder Mystery 2.
