]]>Letitia Wright got her big break by playing the brilliant princess Shuri in Marvel’s smash hit Black Panther. Many have seen her as the highlight of this film as she provided the comic relief that no Marvel film can go without.
Wright didn’t top Fandango’s list thanks to this film alone. She reprised her role as Shuri in Avengers: Infinity War, and made a brief appearance in another box office hit – Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. According to Fandango’s analysis, her films earned a total of $1.55 billion on domestic box office.
Wright had the most perfect reaction to the news. She shared the post with her followers on Twitter and wrote, “just deposit that amount into my bank account”.
Letitia Wright isn’t the only Black Panther actor to appear on this list. She was followed by her co-stars Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba and Sebastian Stan, who makes a brief cameo in this film.

]]>The full list of nominees was announced on Wednesday, and Drake led the way in the music categories with a total of seven nominations. He will be competing for Best Male Artist, Best Album, Best Song and Best Music Video.
“God’s Plan”, “In My Feelings” and “Walk It Talk It” all received a nomination for best song of 2018, so he’s mostly running against himself. Cardi B came in second, with five nominations.
When it comes to movies, Marvel proved its domination once again. Two of the superhero flicks from this studio walked away with seven nominations each. Those movies are Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. They’ll both be competing for the coveted Best Movie award against each other.
When it comes to TV, The Walking Dead is an absolute favorite. It received a total of eight nominations, including Best Show and Best Drama Show. It will have strong competition in medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, which revived six nominations.
This year sees the addition of 13 new categories, related to pop culture and social media. Voting will close on September 14 and top five nominees in each category will move to the next round. The finalist voting window will start on September 24 and run through October 19. The ceremony will take place on November 11, so make sure to cast your vote if you want to see your favorite star walking away with a shiny statue.

]]>The post “Avengers: Infinity War:” The Greatest Battle Yet appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>Thanos, a villain too strong for even the Hulk, has gathered a team of sinister minions to help him collect all six infinity stones. The result if he succeeds? He takes out half the universe and “perfect balance” is achieved.
The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy team separate into small groups to take on their own monumental tasks. Spider-Man and Iron Man board one of Thanos’ ships to try and rescue Dr Strange who possesses the mind stone, Thor, Rocket and a moody teenage Groot head to the realm of Nidavellir to make and retrieve a new hammer while the rest of the guardians seek out the collector to find the reality stone before Thanos does, and everyone else heads to Wakanda with Vision to destroy the mind stone.
Dividing the heroes into groups maintained the excitement of each fight scene. Rather than just one epic fight at the end, all the heroes tried and failed to take out Thanos in their respective realms. For the first time, the heroes didn’t have a clear plan which they optimistically executed as a team but found themselves out of their depth and unsure how to react to the situation at hand. Mistakes were definitely made but this only made the story more credible.
Blood was shed and difficult decisions had to be made. Gamora and Vision arguably faced the most tragic fates when their partners bravely held a gun to their head for the greater good, but ultimately their sacrifice meant nothing.
In spite of the more somber tone of the movie, there were some genuinely funny moments too. Star-Lord and Drax, as usual, provided some much needed comic relief. A highlight was Thrax’s attempt to turn invisible and Star-Lord’s insecure reaction to meeting the muscular, deep-voiced Thor. Wise-cracks and jokes were made even in the face of colossal danger.
But oh my, the audience was not ready for the ending. The dramatic music that is typical of an epic Marvel fight scene faded into nothing as some of our favorite characters faded into dust. Spider-Man’s death was particularly moving, as the brave hero broke down and appeared a venerable teenager for the first time in the movie, admitting through tears that he “doesn’t want to go.”
With half the Avengers wiped out, we have no idea where the story will go from here. In the meantime, Infinity War is definitely a feature that can be enjoyed more than once.

]]>This makes the Disney-Marvel’s superhero flick the second-fastest movie to achieve the $500 million milestone. after the 2015 Star Wars: The Force Awakens that hit the half-billion mark faster — in a remarkable 10 days. Infinity War snubbed second place from Star Wars: The Last Jedi that had held the second-fastest mark at 16 days.
That’s not the notch on Infinity War’s belt, having set the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend with $257.7 million (over the last weekend of April).
If the estimates prove right, Avengers: Infinity War will finish out the weekend strong with $546 million, making it eighth on the all-time domestic list.

]]>The star-studded superhero movie also earned $250 million in North America, ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with $248 million. With Infinity Wars’ record-breaking debut, Marvel’s 19 titles got $15 billion to date.
The international opening of $380 million doesn’t include China, the world’s second largest movie market. The film will hit the theatres there on May 11.
Variety reports that Infinity War opened at No.1 in all territories, including United Kingdom with $42.2 million, Korea $39.2 million, Mexico $25.5 million and Australia with $23 million.
The Marvel movie is the sequel to 2012’s The Avengers and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. It brings together more than 20 superheroes such as Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange, and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.
“Disney masterfully combined all of the separate elements of the Marvel brand and brought them together in an enormous and irresistible epic popcorn movie,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at comScore told CNN.

]]>“Well, you know, my contract is over, so that’s as far as I know,” Evans told ET at the opening night of his new play, Lobby Hero, at the Hayes Theater in New York City on Monday.
The 36-year-old actor, who is preparing for the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War movie next month, said that he’ll be sad to leave his character as justice-seeking Steve Rogers when that day comes.
“[I’ll miss] everything [about Captain America],” he shared. “I mean, it’s not just the character, it’s the people – the experience, such good movies, such wonderful memories. I’ll miss a lot.”
But today, Evans is excited to take up some new roles including his character Bill in Lobby Hero.
“He’s not a good man,” he explained. “I sometimes play, you know, selfless people who are more concerned with the welfare of others than themselves, and that’s not exactly this guy. It’s fun to explore different avenues as an actor.”
Lobby Hero, which also stars Michael Cera, Brian Tyree Henry, and Bel Powley, is now on Broadway at Hayes Theater.
