Director Andy Muschietti announced back in August that he has plans for Keaton in the movie, even though Ben Affleck, who portrayed Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is also set to appear in the film. Back then, Keaton denied any rumors he’ll be a part of the DC movie. But not anymore. Entertainment Weekly was first to confirm that Keaton will indeed reprise his role.

Muschietti shared the film’s logo on Instagram earlier this week and confirmed that production has begun.

The Flash movie has been in development for quite some time—first being announced back in 2014—but is finally set to premiere on July 1, 2022. The film stars Ezra Miller alongside Sasha Calle who will star as Supergirl. Muschietti will direct from a script penned by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson.

Despite saying that his film does not exist within Warner Bros’ larger DC Extended Universe and would definitely not cross over with the upcoming The Batman from Matt Reeves, the Joker helmer would like to see a project that tackles Batman within the Joker universe.

“It’s a beautiful Gotham. What I would like to see someone tackle is what Batman looks like from that Gotham,” Joker helmer Todd Phillips told Variety at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. “I’m not saying I’m going to do that. What was interesting to me about the inclusion of Batman in our movie was, ‘What kind of Batman does that Gotham make?’ That’s all I meant by that.”

Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix was the fourth of Warner Bros’ DC Comics films to hit the $1 billion mark.

Multiple outlets confirm that the Big Little Lies actress has been cast as Catwoman in the highly-anticipated Batman film helmed by Matt Reeves.

Reeves broke the news via Twitter, sharing a GIF showing Kravitz on the phone saying “Hello” — the same way he broke the news that Pattinson would play the caped crusader. 

Pre-production on the pic is expected to start this summer, with Batman scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021. Reeves boarded the project in January 2017, after Ben Affleck retired his cape, which gave him the opportunity to pick his own Batman.

Todd Phillips (The Hangover) will co-write and direct the movie, and Martin Scorsese will produce it with Phillips.

The untitled movie about the origins of The Joker, is the first to be produced under a yet-to-be announced separate banner with the intent of creating unique storylines for the studio’s iconic heroes and villains.

The Joker has played a memorable part in several Batman movies, portrayed by Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and most recently Jared Leto in the first Suicide Squad film. Leto will reprise his role in the Suicide Squad sequel, however, Philips’ film is most likely going to feature a different and perhaps younger actor.

The Clown Prince of Crime origin movie will feature an intriguing setting in the form of a gritty and grounded crime film set in early 80’s Gotham City, much like and similar to a Scorsese film from that era, rather than a DC movie.

A source reports that Phillips and Silver have begun writing but there’s no decision where this movie will fit into the DC schedule.
