]]>The Carmen Sandiego reboot will make its Netflix debut on January 18.
The streaming giant announced the premiere date for its upcoming animated series via Twitter on Tuesday, writing, “WHEN in the world is Carmen Sandiego coming to Netflix? *hacks database* January 18! Who’s ready to go on an adventure with @HereIsGina and @FinnSkata?
Carmen is voiced by Gina Rodriguez opposite Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, who voices Player, Carmen’s accomplice. According to E! Online, Carmen will tell Carmen’s backstory from her perspective like a modern day Robin Hood who steals from V.I.L.E. to give back to their victims.
“Carmen is publicly perceived as a criminal by most law enforcement agencies–correction, make that a master criminal due to the sheer scale and theatricality of her heists. We will follow her escapades and get to determine not only where but WHO in the world is Carmen Sandiego?”

]]>It looks like red fedoras are making a come back with a live-action film adaptation of Carmen Sandiego starring Gina Rodriguez.
The educational character has been featured in multiple books, live-action game shows, and the animated series Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego which ran between 1994 and 1998.
Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) will also produce the reboot about the titular character, a globe-trotting thief, who will be introduced to a new generation of fans on Netflix. The film is set to be a standalone adventure.
This is the second Carmen Sandiego project for Rodriguez as she also voiced the title character in the streaming giant’s upcoming animated series, scheduled to stream in 2019.
No release date, writer or director has yet been announced for the live-action film.
