2023 has definitely been the year of Barbie, and this film is shaping up to be a major player in the Oscars race. The Critics’ Choice Awards nominations have finally been unveiled, and Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed comedy emerged as the top contender with 18 nods.

Barbie scored nominations in most of the main categories, starting with the best feature. American Fiction, The Color Purple, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things, and Saltburn are also in the running for the biggest award of the night.

The cast of Barbie received a nod for the best ensemble, while its stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, and Ariana Greenblatt got individual nominations for their performances. Barbie is also the main contender in the best comedy field, and it scored the rest of its nominations in technical categories.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things will come into the night with 13 nods each, followed by Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon with 12 and Bradley Cooper’s Maestro with 8.

The 29th Critics’ Choice Awards will return to Los Angeles on January 15, 2024, with Chelsea Handler hosting the show. The list of nominees in the TV field was unveiled earlier this month, and it’s led by The Morning Show and Succession.

Both The Morning Show and Succession will be in the running for one of the most coveted awards of the night: the best drama series. The list of contenders in this category also includes Netflix’s The Diplomat, HBO’s The Last of Us, Disney’s Loki, Paramount’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.

The Morning Show scored five more nods in the acting categories, thanks to the amazing performances by Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Nicole Beharie, and Karen Pittman. Succession also owes its additional four nominations to its cast, including Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, and Matthew Macfadyen.

ABC’s Abbot Elementary is the runner-up for the best comedy series award after winning it last year, but it will have to beat tough competition in HBO’s Barry, FX’s The Bear, Reservation Dogs, and What We Do in the Shadows, Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Apple TV’s Shrinking, and Peacock’s Poker Face.

Awards season is heating up as we speak, both in the movie and the TV field. The list of nominations for the Critics’ Choice TV Awards is finally in, and Abbott Elementary is leading the way with six nominations, closely followed by Better Call Saul with five.

After being nominated for outstanding comedy series at this year’s Emmys, Abbott Elementary will have another chance at victory at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards. It’s one of the contenders for the best comedy series award, in addition to scoring five more nods in acting categories thanks to its amazing ensemble cast led by Quinta Brunson.

As for the drama field, Better Call Saul is leading the way with five nominations, including the best drama. It will go head-to-head against Andor, Bad Sisters, The Crown, Euphoria, The Good Flight, House of the Dragon, Severance, and Yellowstone in one of the night’s biggest categories.

The list of major contenders at the upcoming Critics’ Choice TV Awards will also include Starz’s Gaslit, FX’s Reservation Dogs, and Paramount+’s The Good Fight with four nominations each.

The 28th Critics’ Choice Awards will take place on January 15, 2023 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, with Chelsea Handler serving as the host. The list of nominations in the film categories will be announced on December 14.

Only a week after topping the list of winners at the Golden Globes, The Crown and Nomadland continued their winning strike at another awards ceremony. The Netflix royal series and Chloé Zhao’s critically acclaimed drama topped the list of winners at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

The list of major winners in other movie categories also included Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom with three awards, including best actors for the late Chadwick Boseman. Minari, Promising Young Woman, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 are sharing the third spot with two awards each.

The Crown continued its reign in the TV categories, with four awards—best drama and acting awards for Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, and Gillian Anderson. Ted Lasso was leading the way in the comedy field, with a total of three awards.

Alfonso Cuarón received some of the best reviews of his career for his deeply personal family drama Roma, and his trophy shelf reflects that. He won four awards for this film at the Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony.

In addition to winning the biggest award of the night – best picture – Roma also came out victorious in additional three categories: best director, cinematography and foreign film. Black Panther and Vice also had a great night at the Critics’ Choice Awards this year and scooped three awards each.

The critics also showed a lot of love for TV shows The Americans and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. They both received three shiny statues by the end of the night and won the best drama and best comedy series awards, respectively.

Just like every other awards show, the Critics’ Choice Awards couldn’t go without a shocker or two. Viewers were surprised after seeing two ties in one night, but it was an absolute delight to watch Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette share the stage and accept an award together, only to be followed by Glenn Close and Lady Gaga do the same thing.

The 2019 Critics Choice Awards are less than a month away, and we already can name two people who’ll be walking away with shiny trophies at the end of the night. Claire Foy and Chuck Lorre are set to receive special recognitions at the upcoming ceremony.

The Crown actress had an amazing 2018, and CCA decided to honor her with the #SeeHer Award. This prize is presented to artists responsible for pushing boundaries and recognizing the importance of authentic portrayals of women across the entertainment landscape. The list of previous recipients includes Gal Gadot and Viola Davis.

Chuck Lorre, known for his work on The Big Bang Theory, Mom and The Kominsky Method, will receive the Critics’ Choice Creative Achievement Award. Joey Berlin, president of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, said this felt like the perfect time to honor him – just before The Big Bang Theory rides off into the sunset.

“For a quarter of a century Chuck has been keeping us in stitches with comedies of remarkable hilarity and consistency, delighting viewers and critics alike,” said Berlin.

The nominations for the upcoming Critics Choice Awards are just in, and let’s just say it’s pretty easy to tell who’s the favorite. Yorgos Lanthimos’ royal satire received a whooping 14 nods, but it was closely followed by Marvel’s smash-hit Black Panther with 12.

It goes without saying The Favourite got a nod in all the main categories, including best picture and best director. Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, and Rachel Weisz all got acting nominations in their respective categories, and we can’t wait to see if they’ll end up walking away with a trophy.

When it comes to the TV categories, three shows tied for bragging honors with five nods each – The Americans, The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and Escape at Dannemora. Something tells us it’s going to be a close race, and we can’t wait to see who comes out victorious when Critics Choice Awards air on the CW Network on January 13.

Critics’ Choice Awards are coming back in style this winter, and the nominees in the television categories have just been chosen! Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show led the way with six nods, followed by the final season of HBO’s Succession with five.

The film nominations for the Critics’ Choice Awards will be announced on December 13, while the ceremony will take place on January 14, 2024.

Nomadland came on top by scoring big victories in four different categories, including the most important award of the night—best picture. Chloé Zhao also won awards for best director and best-adapted screenplay, while Joshua James Richards picked up the trophy for best cinematography.
