Rudd (Ant-Man) and Ortega (Wednesday) star as father and daughter whose weekend retreat turns into a nightmare after a disastrous hit-and-run. They end up running over a unicorn that just happens to be the latest target of an eccentric billionaire trying to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
In addition to Rudd and Ortega, this quirky project also stars Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Téa Leoni (Flirting with Disaster), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead), and Stephen Park (Asteroid City).
Death of a Unicorn hails from the first-time director Alex Scharfman, who was also in charge of penning the script and producing the film via Secret Engine. The production already concluded under a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement this summer, with A24 co-financing it with Ley Line Entertainment and taking charge of its global distribution.
