The second installment of this acclaimed anthology series draws inspiration from Laurence Leamer’s book Capote’s Women. It centers on famed author Truman Capote and a group of his female friends he called his “swans” and tried to throw under the bus in his unfinished novel Answered Prayer.

Tom Hollander (The Night Manager) will portray Truman Capote, while Naomi Watts, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, and Diane Lane are set to play Babe Paley, C. Z. Guest, Lee Radziwill, and Slim Keith, some of the biggest socialites of the America jet set during the ’50s and ’60s. The second season will feature eight episodes, all directed by two-time Oscar-nominated director Gus Van Sant.

The first season of this acclaimed series was titled Feud: Bette and Joan and it premiered back in 2017. It starred Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon as Hollywood legends Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, whose infamous feud on the set of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? remains the stuff of Hollywood legends.

The Oscar-nominated actress has been cast to headline the drama, starring opposite Imogen Poots, Barry Keoghan, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland. The casting was confirmed by FX on Wednesday. 

Y: The Last Man is based on DC Comics’ acclaimed series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. It explores a new order of women in a post-apocalyptic world after all male mammals have been decimated except for one lone human.

Variety reports that Lane will play Senator Jennifer Brown, a junior senator in her first term who has made a name for herself in political circles for her willingness to put personal ideals over politics. She is also the mother of Yorick Brown (Keoghan) who may be that lone male survivor of the worldwide plague and his sister Hero Brown (Poots), an EMT nurse who carries with her deep emotional trauma.

Lane current projects include a role on the sixth and final season of House of Cards and Amazon’s The Romanoffs.

Earlier this month, Amazon Studios decided to move forward with the project without the involvement of The Weinstein Company, as the sole producer of the series.

The upcoming new series will consist of eight one hour-long standalone episodes. Each episode will center on the stories of those who believe they are descendants of the imperial family that ruled Russia from 1613 until the Bolsheviks seized power in 1917.

This TV appearance is quite rare for the Oscar nominated actress, as she primarily worked on film throughout her career. Lane joins previously announced cast members such as Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Isabelle Huppert, Corey Stoll, Andrew Rannells, Paul Reiser, and Amanda Peet among others.

Matthew Weiner serves as the series’ director, executive producer and writer. Semi Chellas will also be writing for The Romanoffs and will also serve as the show’s executive producer.

The Romanoffs will debut on Prime Video next year.
