Fargo changes setting and location with each new installment, and it will take us to Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019 this time around. Juno Temple will star as Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon, a seemingly typical Midwestern housewife whose dark past comes to haunt her after she unexpectedly finds herself in hot water with the authorities.

Season 5 will also star Jon Hamm as sinister Sheriff Roy Tillman, who’s trying to hunt her down, David Rysdahl as Dot’s well-meaning husband Wayne, and Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lorraine Lyon, Wayne’s mother and CEO of a large debt collection agency.

The supporting cast will include Joe Keery as Tillman’s son Gator, Sam Spruell as shadowy drifter Ole Munch, Lamorne Morris as North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr, Richa Moorjani as Minnesota Police Deputy Indira Olmstead, and Dave Foley as Lorraine’s primary adviser Danish Graves.

Season 5 of Fargo will feature 10 brand-new episodes, and it will premiere on FX on November 21.

After nearly a decade since the funny man was tapped as TV series regular, Rock joins the fourth season of the Noah Hawley anthology. 

The new of the newest addition to FX’s hit limited series were announced Friday at the at the Television Critics Association press tour. Rock shared his excitement saying, “I’m a fan of Fargo and I can’t wait to work with Noah.”

The fourth installment has been officially greenlit and here is the official FX description: “Season four of Fargo is set in 1950, at the end of two American migrations — that of Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, who came to the U.S. at the turn of the last century and settled in northern cities like New York and Chicago — and African-Americans who left the South in great numbers to escape Jim Crow and moved to those same cities — you saw a collision of outsiders, all fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African-American. Together they control an alternate economy — that of exploitation, graft, and drugs. This too is the history of America. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.”

Hawley will return as showrunner writer and director, while Joel & Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield, and John Cameron have also served as executive producers. Production on the upcoming installment will begin in 2019, however, no return date has been determined.

FX chairman John Langraf has put an end to the rumors Friday as he told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California, that “It’s not gone.”

“Noah Hawley, who has become quite a busy bee… has told us that he has an idea that excited me enormously for a fourth cycle of Fargo and the plan is to have that ready in 2019. The anticipation is there will be another cycle of Fargo in 2019.”

Hawley, writer-producer of Fargo, also said of the much anticipated 4th installment: “Unfortunately, I can’t really tell you anything about that. I will tell you the next thing you’ll see of Fargo is going to be a book that looks at the [previous] three seasons with scripts, interviews and everything that I’m doing with [my publisher] Grand Central. We’re working on that now, so hopefully that’ll come out before the fourth [season]. It’s still early for me. I really love that world. But it’s still very much a question for me of making sure there’s something left to say about it, and balancing tone. I never want it to be something that people go, ‘Oh that thing, it’s the accents and the funny crime show.’ Yeah, it’s still very much a work in progress.”

Now that rumors of Fargo’s end have been squashed, all that’s left to do, is wait!
