On Monday, Fallon had Paul Rudd on the show as his first celebrity guest. Before Rudd came on the show, Fallon talked about the highlights of the week including some memorable moments of the Winter Olympics and The 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
Fallon explained that “[Yesterday was] day 11 of the Winter Olympics, but it [was] day 12 of Fergie’s National Anthem,” referencing to Fergie’s sexy and sultry cover of the American National Anthem. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fallon also made fun of German figure skater Paul Fence, who skated to music from the popular television series Game of Thrones.
Afterwards, Fallon introduced “the first ever The Tonight Show’s one minute interview” with Paul Rudd. Rudd went on the show to promote his new film, Mute (2018) which premieres on Netflix on February 23rd, 2018. The five-minute segment ended with Fallon and Rudd singing “Shout” by The Isley Brothers.

“The Four is truly a next-generation show,” Rob Wade, President, Alternative Series & Specials, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement. “It has pushed past the boundaries of traditional music competition series by focusing on recording artists in an epic battle to become a superstar. And for the winner, guided by music giants Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor and Republic Records, this is just the beginning… And we look forward to pushing the boundaries even further in season two.”
The network has yet to release additional details about who will host and who serve as panelists of the next season of the show.
According to the announcement, the show will return sometime this summer.

The six-episode show is set to premiere on January 4, will feature four vocalists who battle to defend their seats against newcomers. It has been touted as “a groundbreaking new singing competition series that challenges performers to fight for their life to be the best.”
“I am very excited and proud to be the host of The Four: Battle for Stardom,” Fergie said in her statement. “This is a unique and modern show format that I believe will set the standard for the next generation of singing competition series on TV.”
Fox announced that it picked up the show in August, where the network’s Group Chairman and CEO seemed to have a big of an attitude towards ABC’s upcoming version of American Idol.

“I’m not going to sacrifice time with my child,” she said. “That’s just not going to happen. They can keep banging on my door [to release an album], but I’m like, “I’m with Axl. I’m off the grid! Bye!”
Recording her second album meant a complete reorganization, as the singer explained that this time around, things were totally different having to masterfully schedule the hours she’s spend at the studio.
Balancing her dual roles as artist and mother required some adjustments, but not all of them resulted from struggle. Fergie said that in many ways the pregnancy “reset” her, adding that it also inspired her to extend her creative reach. “I’ve never taken this much responsibility,” she said. “I’m executive-producing [the album] and I kept wanting to make it better and better. I wanted to strive for greatness.”
