]]>This cancelation comes as quite a shocker because it comes only a day after the titular star Gal Gadot shared a hopeful tweet about the future of the Wonder Woman franchise. She concluded her tweet by writing, “can’t wait to share her next chapter with you”, but it quickly turned out we won’t be getting a new chapter of Diana Prince’s story.
This decision caused so much confusion that Gunn couldn’t help but react, saying he and Safran were aware they were coming into a fractious environment when they agreed to take over DC Studios.
“We know we are not going to make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the STORY & in the service of the DC CHARACTERS we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives,” wrote Gunn on Twitter.
Wonder Woman and its sequel Wonder Woman 1984 were both directed by Patty Jenkins, with Gal Gadot in the lead role, jointly grossing almost $1 billion worldwide.

]]>The first teaser was unveiled by none other than Wonder Woman herself Gal Gadot. The under-30 second teaser was released a day before the full trailer was expected to premiere at Brazil’s Comic-Con Experience event in São Paulo, Brazil.
The footage features Israeli actress Gadot reprises her role as the Amazonian princess in the sequel to the hit 2017 DC film, both directed by Patty Jenkins.
“Nothing good is born from lies and greatness is not what you think,” Wonder Woman says in the trailer.
Wonder Woman 1984 also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Newcomers include Pedro Pascal as Max Lord and Kristen Wiig as the Cheetah.
Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on June 5, 2020.

]]>The duo will be kicking things off with the fact-based historical thriller Irena Sendler. Gadot will star in the film and will produce with Varsano alongside Marc Platt for Warner Bros.
Per the official description, Irena Sendler tells the harrowing story of a woman’s defiant stand against Polish Nazi occupation and the incredible network she developed to care for and save 2500 Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto. Following her arrest by the Gestapo during the height of the war, the drama becomes a race against time to save not only herself but the identities of the hidden thousands who’ll face certain execution.
“As producers, we want to help bring stories that have inspired us to life,” Gagot and Varsano said. “Pilot Wave will create content that promotes the perspectives and experiences of unique people and produce impactful stories aimed at igniting the imagination.”

Lamarr immigrated from Europe in the ‘30s and took Hollywood by storm. The film actress, who appeared in multiple movies opposite A-listers such as Judy Garland and Clark Gable, was also a trailblazing scientist.
“The life of Hedy Lamarr was a truly fascinating one. She stood at the forefront of many issues that challenge women and our society today,” said Showtime’s President of Entertainment Jana Winograde. “In Gal Gadot, we have found the transcendent actress to portray the deeply complex Lamarr. And with the award-winning talents of Sarah Treem and Warren Littlefield, this is going to be a special series.”
The project hails from The Affair co-creator/executive producer Sarah Treem.

]]>Filming has wrapped on the second installment of Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman franchise and Gadot has treated fans with three BTS pictures of the two of them. The actress took to Instagram Sunday and shared a heartfelt message to her co-stars and crew.
“We did it. Again!!. And as much as the first time shooting Wonder Woman was amazing, this time was even more unique and special.. We shot in 4 very different locations in 3 countries, and I’m so soooo proud of the almost 1000 crew members who came to set every day, giving everything they have into our movie.”
She continued: “Couldn’t ask for better partners on this.. I’m so lucky to have the one and only Patty Jenkins, as my director. She always has our backs, she gives us the wings to dare, and everyday she helped us find the most creative version of ourselves .. I am so grateful to call her my friend. And to our AMAZINGly talented cast who made every day enjoyable and fun, thank you!”

The first Wonder Woman film was the highest-grossing film of summer 2017 earning $412.5 million at the domestic box office, and $821.8M worldwide. Originally set for a November 2019 release, Wonder Woman 1984 will open in theaters June 5, 2020.

]]>This exciting project is based on another of Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries, solved by the legendary detective Hercule Poirot. The action takes place in Egypt this time around and centers on the murder of a young heiress.
Gadot will portray rich socialite Linnet Doyle, tangled up in a complicated romance which leads to tragedy, leaving detective Poirot to solve the mystery. Just like the rest of Christie’s stories, Death on the Nile comes with a colorful collection of supporting characters, who all happen to be suspects in the case.
Kenneth Branagh directed and starred in the previous installment in this growing franchise, but it’s still unclear if he’ll return for the sequel. Death on the Nile will be released in theaters on December 20, 2019, and the rest of the cast is yet to be announced.

]]>The Wonder Woman star announced her casting online and said it’s amazing to work with such a great team. She was cast as a tough-as-nails street racer Shank, one of the coolest characters in the upcoming movie.
“Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her. But as the movie goes on, you realize how fun, wise and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her,” said Gadot.
Shank is one of the new characters Ralph and Vanellope end up meeting on their quest to find a replacement part for Sugar Rush. Ralph’s little sidekick earns her respect after the two girls compete in the dangerous Slaughter Race. Director Phil Johnston said Shank is Vanellope’s big-sister figure and he couldn’t imagine anyone but Gadot bringing her to life.
“There’s so much texture to her voice and so much living in her voice. We wanted someone that Vanellope would look up to, and Gal is definitely someone kids – and a lot of adults I know – aspire to emulate. I can’t imagine anyone else embodying that part.” said Johnston.

]]>Gal Gadot took some time off from her DC Universe world and paid patients and caregivers a surprise visit dressed in her superhero outfit.
The 33-year-old actress was filming the sequel titled Wonder Woman 1984 nearby in the Washington, DC and Virginia area when she decided to brighten the days of the young patients.
Staffers took to social media to share moments from the exciting visit.
Dr. Lucas Collazo tweeted, Thank you @GalGadot for visiting us @InovaHealth Children’s Hospital. You are a true Wonder Woman. The kids loved it…and so did the staff #wonderwoman84.”
Staff member Jamie Gentille took to Instagram sharing a photo with Gadot surrounded by smiling people and wrote, “Some days are just WONDERFUL!!! So grateful for the stunningly gorgeous and kind Gal Gadot for bringing her superpowers to the kids at work!!! #wonderwoman #ilovemyjob.”

]]>Fans could not contain their excitement for the reveal of Kristen Wiig’s character Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah. Jenkins shared a wide shot that shows Wiig’s curly-haired character, in her civilian form surrounded by statues of lions, giraffes, and antelope, a somewhat foretelling decor as for the shape-shifting archaeologist.
This sneak peek joins a series of first looks into the sequel. Earlier this month Gal Gadot shared a snap of her character Diana Prince gone ’80s retro. Jenkins shared first look images of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, who did not survive the first film, and caused fans to go into a bit of a frenzy.
The eighth installment in the DC Universe franchise was a huge blockbuster hit, earning a whopping $821.8 million worldwide. Wonder Woman 1984 is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.

]]>The official stills from the film’s production were tweeted by director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot which means that filming of the sequel is officially underway. The official title was also revealed: Wonder Woman 1984.
The first image is of female-lead Gal Gadot standing in front of a bank of TVs full of retro pop culture. While this image is not very revealing of the plot, the second image is quite a shocker as it reveals Diana Prince’s love interest, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) the American spy rescued by Prince, alive and well.
For those who don’t remember, Trevor sacrificed himself in the first Wonder Woman movie.
So how did Trevor make it to the sequel set almost 70 years later in 1984 and in the US? Let’s just say that the DC Comics film universe we have seen stranger feats.
According to Warner Bros., filming will take place in Washington DC, Alexandria, Virginia, the UK, Spain, and the Canary Islands.
Wonder Woman was released in 2017 and grossed a whopping $822 million at the box office. Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to be released November 1, 2019.
