The first round of presenters has been announced, with the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, and Will Ferrell leading the pack.

Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) will return to present awards this year after walking away with the Golden Globe trophies last year. They won awards for best supporting actress and best actress in musical or comedy, respectively, so it’s safe to assume they’re presenting awards in these categories.

The first round of presenters will also include former Golden Globe winners Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) and Julia Garner (Ozark), alongside Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, comedian George Lopez, Justin Hartley (This Is Us), and Will Ferrell (Barbie).

Barbie will enter the night as the top nominee after scoring nine nominations, closely followed by Oppenheimer with eight and Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things with seven. Succession is the top contender in the TV categories with nine nods, while The Bear and Only Murders in the Building are right behind with five each.

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards will take place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on January 7, with stand-up comedian Jo Koy serving as the host.

2024 Golden Globes: Stand-Up Comedian Jo Koy Announced as Host https://omgcheckitout.com/2024-golden-globes-stand-up-comedian-jo-koy-announced-as-host/ Sun, 24 Dec 2023 06:12:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=40947 The Golden Globes are returning to Los Angeles in early January, and the HFPA finally picked the next master of the ceremonies. Stand-up comedian Jo Koy will be in charge of hosting the Golden Globe Awards for the first time.

The Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne announced that Koy will take on the hosting duties at the upcoming ceremony and said she’s certain he’ll bring his A-game.

“We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for the stars in the room and a global audience,” said Hoehne in a statement.

Koy is a household name in the world of stand-up comedy, and he most recently took the world by storm with this Funny is Funny World Tour, but this will mark his first time hosting a major award show.

The 81st Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 7, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The list of nominations has been unveiled in early December, with Barbie and Succession leading the way with nine nods each in their respective fields.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was crowned as the biggest winner of the night after walking away with five awards, while HBO’s Succession conquered the TV categories with four wins.

Oppenheimer faced tough competition in Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Past Lives, and The Zone of Interest, but managed to defeat them all and walk away with the ceremony’s most prestigious award—best motion picture—drama.

Christopher Nolan won a Golden Globe for directing Oppenheimer, while Ludwig Göransson collected an award for writing its score. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. brought the total of film’s wins to five, after winning awards for their respective performances.

When it comes to the TV side, the Golden Globe voters bid farewell to Succession in style. The show’s final season won four awards, including the best drama series, and acting awards for Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Matthew Macfadyen. The Bear was right behind with three wins, including the best comedy series, and so was Beef, which was named the best limited series.

Angela Bassett & Michelle Yeoh Among 2024 Golden Globes Presenters https://omgcheckitout.com/angela-bassett-michelle-yeoh-among-2024-golden-globes-presenters/ Fri, 05 Jan 2024 06:56:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=41052 The Golden Globes will finally return to Los Angeles this weekend, and this year’s ceremony will be one star-studded affair!

2021 Golden Globes: “Nomadland” and “The Crown” Win Big https://omgcheckitout.com/2021-golden-globes-nomadland-and-the-crown-win-big/ Mon, 01 Mar 2021 07:31:28 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=38565 After a lot of anticipation, the Golden Globes kicked off the final stage of the award season, bringing several surprises our way. Among the many unexpected winners, the top prizes of the night went to obvious contenders—Chloé Zhao’s drama Nomadland and Netflix’s The Crown.

Nomadland was named as the best drama motion picture, while Zhao made history as the first woman of Asian descent and second woman ever to win the best director award. Borat Subsequent Moviefilm ruled the comedy categories with a total of two awards.

The acting categories featured several expected wins, including Chadwick Boseman’s posthumous victory for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, but they were mostly full of surprises. Most notably, Andra Day managed to beat the likes of Viola Davis and Frances McDormand and win the best drama actress award for The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

When it comes to the TV side of the aisle, The Crown was an absolute winner with four awards. In addition to winning the best drama series, its stars Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, and Gillian Anderson picked up the acting awards in their respective categories. The list of major winners also included Schitt’s Creek and The Queen’s Gambit with two awards each.

The 78th Golden Globe Awards took place on February 28th, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting the ceremony.
