Baumbach’s untitled new project has been described as a coming-of-age story about adults, and its ensemble will be packed with A-list talent. Before the full supporting cast has been unveiled, George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, and Riley Keough have been cast in the lead roles.
They’ll be joined by an impressive lineup of supporting players, starting with Baumbach’s wife and frequent collaborator Greta Gerwig. Emily Mortimer, who wrote the script for this film alongside Baumbach, will also play one of the supporting roles.
The cast will also include the likes of Oscar winner Jim Broadbent (Iris), Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers), Eve Hewson (Flora and Son), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), Grace Edwards (Asteroid City), Josh Hamilton (Eighth Grade), Lars Eidnger (White Noise), Stacy Keach (Nebraska), and Nicôle Lecky (Mood), among others.
Baumbach and Netflix go a long way, and this project will mark his fourth collaboration with the streamer, following The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), Marriage Story, and White Noise.
]]>Greed was described as a satirical take on the world of the super-rich, focusing on a ruthless, perma-tanned and self-absorbed retail clothing billionaire. Steve Coogan will play this immoral businessman, who’s hired a mild-mannered journalist to chronicle his life story.
Greed also stars David Mitchell (Peep Show) and Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat). Isla Fisher will join them in the role of billionaire’s wife. She’s the only person who truly understands him and all his complexities. Fisher’s recent credits include cult sitcom Arrested Development and buddy comedy Tag.
This British comedy will start shooting later this year in Europe. BAFTA winner and Coogan’s frequent collaborator Michael Winterbottom will serve as the director. They met on the set of 2002 comedy 24 Hour Party People and later teamed up for the movie series The Trip.
