Disney dropped the first trailer for Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel of the beloved 2000s body swap comedy.

Freakier Friday will put a multigenerational twist on the original 2003 film, and here’s what it has in store, according to Disney’s official logline:

“The film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”

In addition to Curtis and Lohan, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will also reprise their roles from the original film. They’ll be joined by Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Vanessa Bayer.

The original Freaky Friday came out in 2003, and it starred Curtis and Lohan as a mother-daughter duo whose lives take a wild turn after their bodies are magically switched. It was based on Mary Rodgers’s book of the same name, which previously inspired several adaptations.

Freaky Friday will be released by Walt Disney Studios on August 8 before streaming on Disney+ at a later date.

“Halloween” Scores Second-Best Box Office October Opening Ever https://omgcheckitout.com/halloween-scores-second-best-box-office-october-opening-ever/ Mon, 22 Oct 2018 06:30:37 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=26737 Halloween is officially killing it.

The reboot of the horror franchise earned $77.5 million after opening in almost 4,000 locations in North America. This means that the film has earned the impressive second-best start for an R-rated horror film being It’s. The sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 classic has also scored the second-highest October opening ever, behind Venom’s $80.3 million earlier this month.

Overseas, Halloween generated $14.3 million this weekend.

The film helmed by Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions ignores the nine other remakes and picks up 40 years later, with Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode preparing for her inevitable rematch with masked killer Michael Myers, played by James Jude Courtney.

“I am enormously proud of this film,” Blum said in a statement. “Halloween brings the franchise back to life in a fresh, relevant and fun way that is winning over fans and critics alike.”

“There had been quite some time between the original film,” Jim Orr, Universal’s president of domestic distribution said. “You combine that with the return of a tremendous star in Jamie Lee Curtis, great writing, great filmmaking. All of that comes together as a perfect storm.”

Rounding out the top five this weekend are A Star Is Born, with about $19.3 million; Venom, with about $18.1 million; Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, with about $9.7 million; and First Man, with about $8.6 million.

Fox to reboot James Cameron’s “True Lies” for TV https://omgcheckitout.com/fox-reboot-james-camerons-true-lies-tv/ Sun, 17 Sep 2017 12:21:05 +0000 http://omgcheckitout.com/?p=12003 14 new takes on old TV shows are set to debut in 2017! This time it’s James Cameron’s True Lies to get a reboot in the form of a TV series.

The original 1994 action-thriller filmed starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. Currently, Fox has given a put-pilot commitment to an hour-long dramatic adaptation of the film.

The 1994 True Lies centered on the life of U.S. government Harry Tasker, a spy, balancing home life and work. However, this becomes increasingly complicated as wife Helen discovers what her husband really does for a living and is eager to join the adventure. The film was the third highest-grossing movie of 1994 — banking $378.9 million worldwide — behind The Lion King and Forrest Gump, and Curtis won the Golden Globe for Best Actress (Musical or Comedy).

Marc Guggenheim will be writing the script for the pilot, as Cameron is signed on as executive producer. The pilot is being produced by Wonderland and Lightstorm in association with 20th Century Fox TV.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode for next installment of “Halloween” https://omgcheckitout.com/jamie-lee-curtis-returns-laurie-strode-next-installment-halloween/ Sat, 16 Sep 2017 05:15:39 +0000 http://omgcheckitout.com/?p=11958 Awesome news Halloween fans! Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to Haddonfield as Laurie Strode for the next installment of the franchise.

The original Halloween movie, which premiered in 1978 was Curtis’ film debut. Since then, she returned to the franchise four times for sequels. Now, 40 years later, Curtis will be starring in the next film of the horror franchise.

Curtis took to social media and announced her return on Twitter, posting a photo of her on set next to a jack-o-lantern with a masked Michael Myers standing behind her in the doorway. She added the caption: “Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween.”

The new Halloween is co-written by comedian Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down) and filmmaker David Gordon Green, who will also direct the film. Director of the 1978 original horror film John Carpenter wrote on Facebook earlier this year that the duo’s vision for the new movie is simply “WOW.”

Curtis’ casting comes with little surprise as McBride is a fan of the original. He told EW that he just loves the original, adding that “there’s something so scary about how simple it was.” He also revealed that their ambition for the new installment is “to strip it down and get it back to [being] grounded in reality, which I think makes it scarier.”

The new Halloween will hit theaters on October 19, 2018.
