]]>The miniseries event is baed on A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership, Comey’s New York Times No. 1 bestselling book. Comey was dismissed from his role after President Trump objected to Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hilary Clinton’s emails.
Penning the script is Captain Phillips scribe, Billy Ray.
“Jeff is so perfect for this part,” said the TV adaptation’s scribe BIlly Ray said of Daniels’ casting. “Great actor, instant integrity, loads of warmth, intelligence, complexity and gravitas. We talked backstage after I saw him in To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway, and I knew I was looking at the only person who could play Jim Comey. Lucky for me, he said yes.”
Daniels is currently portraying Atticus Finch (for 52 weeks straight!) on Broadway in the To Kill a Mockingbird adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Harper Lee novel.

]]>Helming the great American novel’s adaptation to the stage is Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. This will mark the 1960 novel, turned film, turned play, Broadway debut.
Producers for the project now announced that the cast of the play opening this fall, includes two-time Tony-nominated actor, Jeff Daniels. Last seen on Broadway in 2016, Daniels will portray Atticus Finch, the heroic attorney and father figure. Cast as Finch’s children are Celia Keenan-Bolger who will portray Atticus’s fearlessly curious daughter, Scout, and Will Pullen as her protective older brother, Jem. Additional casting includes Gideon Glick (as Dill), LaTanya Richardson Jackson (as Calpurnia), Dakin Matthews (as Judge Taylor), Stark Sands (as Horace Gilmer), Frederick Weller (as Bob Ewell), Erin Wilhelmi (as Mayella Ewell), Gbenga Akinnagbe (as Tom Robinson), Stephen McKinley Henderson, Phyllis Somerville, and Liv Rooth.
Directing the play is Tony winner Bartlett Sher, and the production’s designers include Miriam Buether (scenic), Ann Roth (costume), Jennifer Tipton (lighting), Scott Lehrer (sound), with an original score by composer Adam Guettel.
Previews of To Kill a Mockingbird begin November 1. The play opens on December 13.
